(United Artists, 1957) A set of nine concept designs by Harper Goff for the feature film “The Vikings.” These production concepts depict the bow and stern of the Viking boats, and the helmets the Vikings wore. There are six original drawings on vellum in ink and pencil, a printed brownline, and two smaller vellum prints. The concepts measure from 8" x 5" to 14" x 12 and are in good overall condition with several small tears and cracks to the vellum sheets, some yellowing, and fold lines from use; and one in fair condition with a 5.75” tear through one edge of the image. Disneyland. Artist Harper Goff’s fingerprints are all over pop culture’s history. Goff first met Walt Disney in London when the two collectors tried to buy the same train set. The Disney Legend would go on to design the Nautilus, create concepts for Main Street, U.S.A., and even play banjo in the popular Firehouse Five Plus Two, a band consisting of Goff and his fellow Disney artists. Goff’s talents were appreciated throughout Hollywood, as he worked for many different studios over the years. We are proud to have some of his wonderful designs up for auction.
