(Disney, 1939) An extremely rare and large set of Old King Cole window displays featuring Pinocchio and Geppetto from Walt Disney's "Pinocchio." The hand-painted molded relief displays are constructed of the company's exclusive Paper Mache' process, '"Laminite." Known mainly for displays of Mickey and the "Fab Five", Old King Cole also manufactured displays for "Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs" and "Pinocchio" before their license expired in 1942. Although we have seen a handful of "Snow White" displays, "Pinocchio" displays are extremely rare, so much so that we have only seen two small examples from the film other than the pieces offered here. These large displays are the only examples known to exist. Pinocchio measures 62"x53"x6" and Geppetto Measures 72"x60"x8". Pinocchio's right arm is hinged with an armature that allowed it to be motorized to move up and down. A small portion of the point of Pinocchio's cap is missing. A 3-inch diameter portion of the top of Geppetto's hair is also missing. Overall, the pieces present beautifully and are in surprisingly good unrestored condition, still retaining their original paint with crazing and flaking throughout. Due to the size and fragility of these pieces, special shipping arrangements will be required. Please inquire before bidding.
