(Disneyland, 1950s) An extremely rare and very early Mine Train to Rainbow Caverns sign created for the Omnibus at Disneyland. The Omnibus debuted in 1956 with a second added in 1957, and this sign was crafted by Disneyland Staff Shop craftsmen and artists for mounting on the sides of the vehicles. The colorful hand-painted imagery depicts a Mine Train of Guests encountering stalactites, stalagmites, colorful waterfalls, and pools, and was inspired by the attraction poster by Bjorn Aronson. During the 1970s, the Omnibus signs were produced using lithography, making this hand-crafted sign a unique and extremely rare piece of Disneyland history. Measuring 24.5"x13.5", this beautiful metallic sign displays in very good condition with scuffs, scratches, and chips to paint, oxidation to reverse and mounting holes, and wear throughout from Park display, handling, and age. This is one of only two Mine Train Omnibus signs we have ever seen offered.
