(Disneyland, 1950s) An extremely rare and very early Jungle Cruise sign created for the Omnibus at Disneyland. The Omnibus debuted in 1956 with a second added in 1957, and this sign was crafted by Disneyland Staff Shop craftsmen and artists for mounting on the sides of the vehicles. The colorful hand-painted imagery depicts the Congo Queen naphtha launch boat encountering a hippopotamus and African elephant along the Rivers of the World in Adventureland and was inspired by the attraction poster by Bjorn Aronson. The rear of the sign has annotation reading "2-R." During the 1970s, the Omnibus signs were produced using lithography, making this hand-crafted sign a unique and extremely rare piece of Disneyland history. Measuring 24.5"x13.5", this beautiful metallic sign displays in very good condition with scuffs, scratches, and chips to paint, minor oxidation to rear and wear throughout from Park display, handling, and age. This is one of only two Jungle Cruise Omnibus signs we have ever seen offered.
