(Charlotte Clark, 1930) A rare Charlotte Clark Mickey Mouse doll. When Mickey Mouse started gaining prominence, Charlotte Clark saw merchandising potential. She created the first Mickey Mouse doll from sketches by her 14-year-old nephew Bob Clampett, who would go on to become one of the most influential animators. Upon seeing Clark’s dolls, Walt and Roy Disney hired her to manufacture more. High public demand eventually led to a change in how the dolls were made, though the new dolls could not match Clark’s craftsmanship. Original Charlotte Clark dolls are some of the most desirable vintage Disney collectibles, and rarely is one seen that looks this good after all of these years. Measuring 11.5” x 8.75” x 18.5” tall, the doll displays in very good condition with spotting, scuffs, missing two back buttons, missing tail, visible stitches from a previous repair, wear, discoloration from age, and holes in the fabric, notably on the right ear.
