(Marx, 1973) An incredibly rare hand-painted and hand-assembled prototype for the “Robin Hood” character play set by Marx. This unique five-character prototype includes figurines of Robin Hood, Friar Tuck, Prince John, Sir Hiss, and Little John. They differ slightly in shape and color from the final figures, with only Robin bearing a copyright on the reverse. Ranging in size from 2” to 3” with the 9.75” x 1.75” x 5.5” original box prototype, the figures are in good to very good condition with scuffs, paint chipping, cracks, and material loss, while the box displays in good condition with stains, creases, tears, wear, and discoloration from age.
