(Walt Disney World, 1973) A"Now Under Construction" sign for Pirates of the Caribbean at Walt Disney World. When the Magic Kingdom opened on October 1st, 1971, there was no Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. It didn't open until over two years later, on December 15, 1973. As it was under construction, this sign and others were displayed inside the Park, teasing visitors with the news that the attraction is coming with a glimpse of a character inside, in this case, the pirate who's dunking the mayor. Measuring 18" x 29", the wooden sign is in very good condition with expected wear from display inside the Park, including scratches, scuffs, and a small gouge in the"d" of"under."
