(Ward, 1963-64) A very rare original “The Piccadilly Squares” character concept drawing by Al Shean. Jay Ward developed this series to capitalize on the “British Invasion” of the early 1960s and it was meant to be a segment of the unproduced “Super Chicken Show.” Aside from one other character drawing, nothing relating to the series is known to have survived. Measuring 10.5” x 12.5”, the mixed-media drawing displays in good condition with light edge wear and creasing, light discoloration from age, and a horizontal fold along the width of the lower third.
