(Disney, 1977) The original one-of-a-kind The Sleuth and Professor Nefarious puppets seen on “The New Mickey Mouse Club” television series. The characters first appeared in Mickey Mouse comic books and made their television debut in puppet form on “The New Mickey Mouse Club” in 1977. The Sleuth and his niece, Mouseketeer Lisa Whelchel, rescued fellow Mouseketeer Mindy Feldman from Professor Nefarious’ evil clutches. The Sleuth puppet was operated by budding ventriloquist Welchel, whose name is still visible on the puppet’s storage box. Created by puppeteer Tony Urbano, the puppets have been restored by Disney artist Kevin Kidney. Professor Nefarious measures 17” x 33” x 40” tall and The Sleuth 18” x 19” x 60” tall, both in very good condition with light pilling, stains, wear, and the inner stuffing exposed on one of The Sleuth’s fingers. Due to size and weight, this item will require special shipping arrangements. Please inquire before bidding.
