(Disney, 1970s) A pair of rare Walt Disney Studios produced timing sheets for “Steamboat Willie,” the first Mickey Mouse cartoon released. In the 1970s as Disney turned towards nostalgia of the early productions and pie-eyed Mickey design, timing sheets were generated for early shorts that had no such record surviving. These sheets meticulously catalog the characters and actions in each shot, along with their exact screen duration. This information was invaluable to nostalgia-facing projects such as 1972’s “The Mouse Factory,” and DTV music videos in the 1980s. Coming from the Iwerks family, these sheets represent a direct link to the very beginning of Mickey Mouse himself. Measuring 8.5" x 14", the two sets of four-page stapled timing sheets are in very good condition with very light wear from age and handling, including the first page of one set showing a 6” gentle fold to the corner.
