(Iwerks, 1934-35) A hand-drawn Christmas card featuring a caricature of Ub Iwerks, signed by the staff of the Iwerks Studio. In 1930 Ub left Disney to set up his own Studio under distributor Pat Powers, producing cartoons featuring characters Flip the Frog and Willie Whopper. This card shows Ub surrounded by piles of animation equipment and tools with improbable "-er" names, clearly an inside joke. The card includes no less than 44 signatures, representing most if not all of the staff of the Studio. Included are animation legends such as Carl Stalling, who signed "Herr Stalling" in another shared joke with Iwerks, and Bick Bickenbach who illustrated the card. Accomplished in ink and gouache, the card measures 11.5" x 14.5" and is in very good condition with edge wear including discoloration from handling and age and some spotting.
