(Terrytoons, 1949) A collection of 22 production drawings by animator Thurlo Collier for the Mighty Mouse short “The Racket Buster.” The drawings feature Pearl Pureheart and an Edward G. Robinson-inspired gangster cat. Also included with the collection are the original timing sheets and production folder. Each measuring 9.5” x 11”, the graphite and colored pencil drawings are in very good condition with light discoloration from age and production-related wear. The 10” x 11.5” folder and 13.25” x 9.5” timing sheets are in poor to very good condition with complete separation at the fold of the folder and production-related wear to the timing sheets. Terrytoons was a prolific animation studio known for producing theatrical shorts, including popular series such as Heckle and Jeckle, Gandy Goose, and, most famously, Mighty Mouse. Originally conceived as a parody of Superman, the Mighty Mouse shorts evolved into a spoof of melodramas featuring a cast of archetypal characters, including the damsel in distress and the sinister mustache-twirling villain. In the 1950s, Terrytoons expanded into television, producing series like Deputy Dawg and Tom Terrific.
