(Disney, 1949) An original concept painting by Disney Legend Mary Blair of the Headless Horseman for “The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad.” In this painting, the terrifying chase between the Headless Horseman and Ichabod Crane comes to a head with Blair expertly contrasting the dramatic burgundy of the Horseman’s cloak against an inky black sky lit only by the moon. Accomplished in gouache, the piece has a painted image size of 8.25" x 9.25" on an artist's board measuring 9.25” x 10.5”, and displays in very good condition with light wear and pinholes at the corners from production use.
