(Disney, 1951) An original concept painting of the Cheshire Cat for "Alice in Wonderland” by Disney Legend Mary Blair. As a color stylist, Blair had a major influence on many of the animated films produced by Walt Disney in the 1940s and 1950s including “Cinderella,” “Peter Pan,” and "Alice in Wonderland.” This piece, accomplished in gouache on artist’s board, showcases Blair’s unique sense of color, depicting the Cheshire Cat mischievously guiding lost travelers through the dark Tulgey Wood. With an image size of 7.5” x 8” on an 8.75" x 9.25" artist's board, the piece displays in very good condition with light edge wear and pinholes in the corners from production use.
