(Paramount, 1989) A wooden protype false grail with decorative jewels, from Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Early in production there was a struggle to find all the right"false grails" for the table of grails guarded by the Knight Templar. In the end, some were made from scratch of fiberglass, and others were bought or rented from antique dealers. This early, simple draft wooden goblet was meant as a base to create a false grail. The intention was to add filigree details by hand in clay, insert glass jewels, and paint it. The wooden grail comes with a case of (47) vintage glass beads intended for decoration, some of which match jewels seen on other false grails in the film. The 3.5" diameter by 5.5" high wooden grail and glass beads of various sizes are in very good condition.
