(Natwick, 1910s-20s) An advertisement for Purity Baby Food by animator Grim Natwick. Before his prolific work in animation, Natwick began his artistic career in 1924 as an illustrator designing sheet music covers and advertisements. Myron "Grim" Natwick was a renowned animator who worked for several animation studios throughout his career, including Iwerks Studio, Walter Lantz Productions, UPA, and most famously, Fleischer Studios, where he created the iconic Betty Boop. He also worked at Walt Disney Animation Studios, where he served as a lead animator on "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs," contributing to some of the film’s most memorable scenes featuring Snow White herself. Under his mentorship, several of Grim's assistants became animation legends themselves, including Walter Lantz, Chuck Jones, and Marc Davis. Accomplished in ink and graphite on a 12” x 12”, artists’ board, the illustration is in good production-used condition with edge wear, tape residue, color loss, and correctional fluid.
