(Columbia, 1984) A Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man head used during the production of “Ghostbusters.” The character was designed by Bill Bryan based on an original concept by Dan Aykroyd, and this head was sculpted by the film’s model maker, Milius Romyn. “Ghostbusters” had more special effects than any comedy at the time and relied on practical effects, miniatures, models, and puppets to bring the film’s specters to life. This head, with an angry expression and open mouth, matches the head used in the film’s explosive finale as the Marshmallow Man is blown to smithereens. Measuring 16” in diameter and 15” tall, the plaster head displays in good condition with large chips, scuffs, cracks, and heavy wear and tear at the bottom and on the inside from production use.
