(John Fairchild, 1960s-1970s) An infamous faux Tiffany Mickey Mouse belt buckle. A relief on the buckle features Mickey Mouse with a pencil writing the text “Mickey Mouse 1937 Hollywood Calif. U.S.A.” with "Tiffany New York" on the reverse. These belt buckles were created and sold by English forger John Fairchild. Fairchild went so far as to write a book about the belt buckles under the pen name “Percy Siebart” to convince people of his work’s legitimacy. U.S. Customs eventually came down on Fairchild. Despite the unusual history of these belt buckles, they are quite desirable among collectors and have earned a unique place in Disneyana history. Measuring 2.5” in diameter, the brass belt buckle is in good condition with oxidation, stains, and wear.
