(Madame Alexander, 1937-38) A composition doll of Dopey from Disney's first animated feature "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Bertha Alexander began crafting cloth dolls in New York during World War I, and by 1936 was named one of the top three doll manufacturers in the United States. Known for crafting dolls of celebrities and characters, this Dopey from 1937 is a prime example of of her work. Measuring 12" tall, Dopey is in fine condition, despite mild soiling and spots of discoloration to few small areas of body and clothing, slight cracking to surface paint behind the right ear, and on the left side of the nose, and retaining original stitched label and 2.5" fine condition cardstock tag.
