(Disneyland, 1969) A Disneyland Main Street, U.S.A. Security Host jacket and hat issued to retiring Anaheim Chief of Police Mark Stephenson. This costume was gifted by the contemporaneous Disneyland Vice President Dick Nunis in honor of Stephenson's service to the Resort, in what was officially noted as "Mark Stephenson Day" at Disneyland. Stephenson became Anaheim Police Chief in 1946 and was instrumental in keeping his department at pace with the development of Disneyland and the effort needed to keep the surrounding area safe; something that Walt Disney knew the importance of and was very grateful for. Designed and created by the Disneyland Costume Department, this custom tailored jacket has a black velour collar, gold striping on the sleeves, and a unique metal embroidered shield emblazoned with the "Tinker Bell D" emblem and the text "Security Honorary Chief." The embroidered shield is designed in such a way that it can be removed and replaced with the standard metal Disneyland Security shield. The unique Keystone Cop-style constable hat has a custom gold band with a gold Tinker Bell and "D" emblem. The jacket is size 42 regular, the shirt is a men's large, and the hat is size 7 3/8". This one-of-a-kind Disneyland costume is in fine condition overall.
