(Disneyland, 1955) A mahogany ceiling panel from inside the Lilly Belle car of the Disneyland Railroad. The train that debuted in the Park on July 17, 1955, had curved, stenciled Honduran mahogany panels running along the ceiling of all the passenger cars. When the Grand Canyon car was transformed into the Lilly Belle, the panels were saved and restored with that same original pattern. Measuring 90” long and 16’5” wide, the panel is in very good condition. Being a ceiling panel out of direct sunlight, the elements, and typical handling, it shows very little wear for its many years of Park service, with some small scuffs and spots of wear, and nail holes and chipping mainly to the .5” to 1.25” border that was not visible while installed.
