(Editorial Valenciana, 1959) A complete set of 32 pages of original comic art comprising a Spanish-language adaptation of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by writer Carlos de Monterrobles and artist Jaime Brocal Remohi. Consisting entirely of panel pages, the artwork is accomplished in pencil, ink, and correction fluid. Every page is hand-lettered in ink and most retain paste-up pagination in the lower corners and a paste-up title at the top. Interestingly, the back of each page features a color guide, rendered in watercolor, for every panel in the book. Though he created several comic adaptations of classic literature, artist Jaime Brocal Remohi is best known for his contributions to Warren Publishing magazines such as Eerie, where he drew recurring characters like Targos and the Mummy. Measuring 19.25” x 13.25”, the artwork is in good condition with light brown spot staining, marginal smudges, fingerprints, corner bends, paint streaks, and production handling wear. Included is the published 10.5” x 7.25” comic in fair condition with the cover detached but included, and stains on each page from oxidation to the binding staple.
