(Walt Disney World, 1970s) A collection of three railroad spikes and a track piece from the Fort Wilderness Railroad at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Fort Wilderness Railroad opened on January 1, 1974, to give Guests an in-theme way to get around the campsites. Due to maintenance issues, noise, and low fuel capacity, it closed in 1980. Considering Walt’s love of trains and how iconic the Parks’ trains are, original spikes and tracks are highly sought-after pieces for collectors. The spikes measure 5” each and the track 5.25” x 7.5”, all in good condition with expected oxidation from age and wear from use. Included in the lot are two 8” x 10” glossy photos of the train, in very good condition, and an 8.5” x 11.25” Walt Disney World Vacationland Fall/Winter 1973 issue featuring the railroad on the cover, which is in good condition with spine tears and wear from use.
