(Disney, 1950) An original concept painting by Mary Blair for Walt Disney's "Cinderella." Although she had worked for the Studio since the 1940s, it was the 1950s that brought Mary Blair to the forefront of the Animation Department. Walt Disney chose Blair as the Color Stylist for "Cinderella", "Alice in Wonderland", "Peter Pan", and several theatrical shorts. It was her conceptual work and styling that set the tone for these first three animated features from Disney in the 1950s. Her early concepts are considered by many collectors to be some of the most desirable and important artwork to come out of the Studio. This oversize concept for Cinderella is accomplished in gouache, with a large painted image size of 18.5"x8" on its 19.5"x9" artists board. It is in very good condition, with minor fading, some surface wear, pinholes and a some bending at the corners.
