(United Artists, 1947) A costume design for Charlie Chaplin as Henri Verdox in the black comedy film Monsieur Verdoux. This unusual turn for Chaplin's career, which he produced and directed, casts him as a bigamist profit-seeking wife-murderer. The art gives (3) views of the character in variations on a standard outfit. Drew Tetrick, who is credited for wardrobe on the film, signed his name to the back of the piece. Measuring 14.25"x23", the concept is executed in gouache and ink, with pencil notes at the top, and in very good condition, with waviness to the paper from intentional shading.
