(Disney, 1954) A rare concept painting by Ralph Hammeras for “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.” The painting is for a deleted sequence of the Nautilus passing through Arctic waters. While test footage was filmed with the Nautilus model on the Fox lot, the scene does not appear in the final cut of the film. Measuring 6.25” x 15.5”, the painting accomplished in gouache on artist board is in very good condition, with pinholes and tape residue at corners from production use, and a few small spots of paper loss or soiling in the right side.
