(Reliance Picture Frame Co., 1933) A framed enamel-on-glass picture of the Three Little Pigs produced by the Reliance Picture Frame Company, an early licensee of the Disney Studio. It is difficult to appreciate from today’s perspective how big a cultural phenomenon “The Three Little Pigs” was when that Silly Symphony cartoon was first released in 1933. The cartoon was so popular that Pig and Wolf merchandise filled the stores, and theaters displayed cutouts of the Pigs out front with beards that grew longer for each week the cartoon played. The piece is in its original wooden frame with the label on the back. With an image size of 3.25" x 4.75" in the 4.25" x 5.75" frame, the piece is in very good condition with edge wear, small chips, scuffs, and smudges to the frame, and heavy wear to the cardboard backing from age and handling.
