Nothing quite captures the youthful excitement of a visit to early Disneyland than the first Disneyland souvenir maps. These wall poster sized maps are just overflowing with charm and detail. The kind of thing that had most 1950s and 60s kids drooling over a visit just completed or one to come.
For many years, these maps were created by one artist, the incomparable, Sam McKim. This Imagineering art director was the sole creator of the maps from the beginning, through the late 1960s and then again for Disneyland Paris and yet once again for Disneyland in the early 2000s. Measures 30"x45". Map has been folded, so creases remain from long periods of folding. Some wear and discoloration remain along the edges and creases of folds. The bottom middle crease has separated, but the top half of that fold remains intact. Some of the other creases are showing signs of separation as well. A real rarity and artifact in that the colors and details of this piece have survived so long.
